Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council announced a full programme of free community events on 28 January 2026 to help residents in Hinckley, Leicestershire, find no‑cost ways to spend time with their families. This year’s plan includes more than 15 major events designed to bring people into the town centre and support local shops.
The list features popular traditions such as the Soapbox Derby, where homemade carts race down Castle Street, and Feast Hinckley, the two‑day food festival. Families can also visit the Snap Dragon Children and Families Festival at Argents Mead.
Many of these activities are run in partnership with Hinckley BID, which represents more than 400 local businesses in the town centre. The programme is funded through a combination of the Borough Council’s leisure budget, parish initiative funds and commercial sponsorships, and all of the listed events are free to attend.
Cllr Stuart Bray, Leader of the Council, said the number of residents and visitors attending recent events resulted in an increase in footfall of around 62% compared with previous years. He added that these gatherings are a key way to make the town a popular destination while helping families manage living costs.
The 2026 programme will also include Hinckley BID’s Annual Motor Show (Classic Motor Show) and the monthly Indie Markets for independent sellers. Cllr Mark Bools, Executive Member for Leisure, said: “We’re incredibly proud to offer such a rich and varied calendar of events for 2026, especially as every single one is free to attend. These occasions are not just about entertainment; they strengthen community spirit, support local businesses, and celebrate the best of our borough.”
