A local charity known as The Well has reached a major milestone by providing emergency food and toiletries to more than 120,000 people across Wolverhampton, West Midlands, since it first opened in 2006. The organisation marked 20 years of service in 2026, highlighting two decades of support for residents facing sudden financial hardship.

The charity operates a delivery-only service, using delivery vehicles and volunteer drivers to bring essential parcels directly to between 80 and 120 households every week (figures to 31 December 2024). This model ensures that people with mobility issues or those who cannot afford bus fares receive help at their doorstep, often coordinated through the City of Wolverhampton Council.

Project leaders Caroline Price and Gary Price started the group in a small church room, where they helped just 69 people during their first year of operation. Charity Commission records and the charity’s contact page show the organisation is now based at Unit 16, Wulfrun Trading Estate, Stafford Road, Wolverhampton, WV10 6HH.

Residents are referred to the service by professionals such as doctors and teachers when they cannot afford basic necessities. Each parcel contains a three-day supply of non-perishable food and hygiene products.

The service relies on around 80 volunteers to sort donations and make deliveries across the city. Local reporting in the Express & Star and other outlets indicates the charity remains a critical resource for the community as household costs continue to affect local families.
