Heavy Rain and Cold Winds Set to Chill Beeston

Residents in Beeston, Nottinghamshire, are being warned to prepare for a wet and cold end to the week as the Met Office predicts heavy rain and wind gusts of up to 33mph on Thursday, 5 February 2026, with winds easing on Friday, 6 February.

While air temperatures are expected to stay above freezing, a sharp wind chill means it will feel as low as -2°C at times, particularly during Thursday. That wind chill, combined with heavy rain, coincides with the Thursday afternoon school run and the Friday morning commute and could cause disruption for families.

The Met Office and local authorities are advising drivers using the A52 (Brian Clough Way) and families heading to schools such as Round Hill Primary to allow extra time for journeys. High winds and surface water can also cause delays on the Nottingham Express Transit (NET) tram network that serves the area.

There are also concerns about puddles and blocked drains in low-lying parts of the town, such as Beeston Rylands. The government’s flood monitoring service currently shows no flood warnings for the River Trent at Beeston Rylands (page updated 06:22 on 5 February 2026), but saturated ground means rainwater may struggle to clear away from local streets.

Residents should check the Met Office forecast and local travel updates before travelling.
