The Hertfordshire County Council is putting an extra £1.5 million into local services in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, to help with road repairs and community projects. This money is part of a larger plan announced on February 5, 2026, to support the town following recent growth from new housing and businesses.

Most of the funding is set aside for fixing potholes and improving pavements on busy roads, such as the area around the A10. These repairs will be managed by the council’s contractor, Ringway, with work starting once the new budget year begins on April 1, 2026.

The council is also increasing the Locality Budget, which provides grants to local clubs and community organisations. This local spending comes at the same time as a proposed 4.99% increase in Council Tax, which council leaders say is necessary to cover the rising costs of social care across the county.

Cheshunt has seen a lot of change recently, including new housing developments and the opening of a large data centre. Council officials say this extra £1.5 million will help make sure that the town’s streets and community groups are supported as more people move into the area.
