Residents Warned To Avoid Fake London Luton Airport Job Ads

London Luton Airport management issued an urgent warning in early February 2026 after fraudsters circulated fake job advertisements targeting local residents. The airport said criminals are using official‑looking logos on social media to advertise bogus roles in security, ground handling and administration.

The false adverts often tell applicants they have been successful but must first pay an upfront fee for a background check or “security clearance”. According to the airport’s careers page, London Luton Airport never charges applicants for pre‑employment checks and posts all legitimate vacancies only on its official website.

The alert comes as the airport’s long‑term expansion — approved in 2025 and expected to increase capacity to 32 million passengers — is forecast to create up to 11,000 new jobs in the area. Airport and policing officials say scammers are exploiting publicity about that growth to target people looking for new careers.

Action Fraud has recorded a national rise in recruitment scams and media reporting has highlighted increased complaints; locally, Bedfordshire Police’s airport/community policing team is also warning residents. People are being told to ignore any unsolicited job offers that ask for payment, to report suspicious adverts to Action Fraud (the UK’s national fraud and cyber‑crime reporting centre), and to contact their bank immediately if they have already sent money.
