On 4 February 2026 Cambridgeshire Constabulary launched a murder investigation after a man was found dead at a property on Gladstone Street in the Millfield area of Peterborough. Emergency services were called to the address at about 10:45 GMT and the man, aged 50, was pronounced dead at the scene, the force said.

Specialist detectives from the force’s Major Crime Unit and forensic teams have been deployed. Cordons remain in place on residential streets near the city centre while officers carry out a forensic search and gather evidence.

Residents should expect an increased police presence and additional patrols in the coming days, the force said. A Cambridgeshire Constabulary spokesperson said the force has a dedicated team of detectives working to establish exactly what has happened and urged anyone with information to come forward.

The inquiry comes amid wider efforts by Police and Crime Commissioner Darryl Preston and the force under the 2025–2028 Police and Crime Plan to improve safety in Peterborough.

The identity of the man has not been released while officers carry out formal identification and inform next of kin. Anyone who saw or heard anything that may be relevant is asked to contact Cambridgeshire Constabulary.
