People living in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, are being asked to help decide how their city centre will look and function for the next 15 to 20 years. A public consultation launched on 2 February 2026 by Peterborough City Council — prepared as part of the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority’s Strategic Place Partnership with Homes England — runs until 12 March 2026 and aims to gather ideas on improving local transport, green spaces and housing.

The council says it will use this feedback to inform long-term planning and make sure future building projects match the needs of a growing community. The consultation is being positioned to align with the council’s climate commitments, including a Roadmap to Net Zero endorsed by cabinet members in December 2024, and wider work on reducing carbon emissions.

Residents can share their thoughts on specific areas such as Cathedral Square, the Embankment and the Station Quarter — including the ongoing £65 million Station Quarter redevelopment. Project leaders have said they aim for a ‘high 60%’ community engagement reach so the final vision reflects people who live and work in the area.

Local people can take part via the council’s online engagement hub and at a series of pop-up and community events (the survey runs to 12 March 2026). The feedback will inform how the city grows through to 2044 as the Local Plan is updated, with a focus on creating a city centre that residents can be proud of.
