Portsmouth City Council has confirmed that the weekend Park & Ride service to the Southsea seafront (PR3) will return for the 2026 summer season. The service will operate from early June through to the end of August to help residents and visitors reach the beach and seafront attractions more easily.
According to Portsmouth City Council, the route will connect the Tipner Park & Ride terminal directly to the city centre, Old Portsmouth and Clarence Pier, with stops serving key visitor sites including The D-Day Story and Avenue de Caen. The service is intended to reduce congestion on narrow historic streets during the peak holiday period.
Buses are scheduled to run at weekends and on bank holidays from Saturday 6 June 2026 until Monday 31 August 2026. A day ticket covers up to five people in one vehicle and costs £5, offering a low-cost option for families and visitors.
Councillor Peter Candlish, Cabinet Member for Transport, said the council is focused on maintaining these bus improvements so people can enjoy Southsea’s shops and seafront without the hassle of finding parking.
