Northampton Town manager Kevin Nolan has shared an update on his players’ fitness following the midweek 2-2 draw at Barnsley on 3 February 2026. The news comes as the team prepares for an important home match against Stevenage at Sixfields this Saturday (7 February 2026).

Club captain Jon Guthrie remains a doubt for the weekend because of hamstring tightness. Nolan described the issue as ‘a minor one’ but warned the defender ‘might not make Saturday.’

The squad will be strengthened by the return of defender Elliott Moore, who missed the Barnsley trip after his wife gave birth to a baby boy and is now in contention. Deadline-day signings Kyle McAdam and Ben Hammond, who were not eligible for the trip to Oakwell, have trained this week and are available for selection and could make their Cobblers debuts.

Young striker Jake Evans, who was left out of the Barnsley match despite being fit, is also available for selection. The team, currently in the bottom places in League One, will be searching for a win to help lift them up the table.

According to a report published on 5 February 2026, Nolan said the arrival of the new players has increased competition in training and that the newcomers are eager to show what they can do on the pitch: ‘The new lads have come in and they want to show what they’re about… It’s given an extra edge to training.’
