Residents will gather at Bournemouth Pier Approach in Dorset on Saturday, 28 March 2026, to take part in a charity walk and run to help local people living with prostate cancer. The event, called March for Men, is organised by the University Hospitals Dorset (UHD) NHS Charity and offers both five-kilometre and 10-kilometre routes along the seafront.

People who want to take part have until 9 February 2026 to sign up at a lower price before the early-bird discount ends; registration is handled through the UHD Charity event page and the official event registration portal. Participants can choose to walk or run and are encouraged to raise extra money through sponsorship to support local hospital services.

Money raised from the event goes toward equipment and support for patients at hospitals in Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch. This includes funding for state-of-the-art diagnostic tools — for example, funds have previously been used to help purchase blue light cameras and other specialized equipment that help clinicians find and treat cancer more effectively.

The 2026 event is the 12th time the community has come together for March for Men. Over its first decade the event raised roughly £170,000 for local urology services. In 2025, more than 300 people (317 participants) joined in, raising about £29,273 for local healthcare services.

The event asks attendees to arrive at 9:30 AM at the Bournemouth Pier Approach, with the walk and run beginning at 10:00 AM. According to Cancer Research UK, prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK (and a leading cancer among men in England), making these fundraising efforts an important part of supporting local patient care and awareness.
