Residents in Bootle, Merseyside, should prepare for a week of milder, unsettled weather from 8–12 February 2026, as warmer Atlantic air moves into the region, according to Met Office forecasts. The Met Office expects daytime temperatures to reach around 11°C on Tuesday and Wednesday, while persistent light rain and evening gusts could bring spray and surface-water issues that may cause travel delays and difficult driving conditions through 12 February.

While the weather will be warmer than the February average, light rain is expected across the week, increasing the risk of spray on main roads such as Derby Road (A565). Forecasters are predicting evening gusts in the mid-20s mph (around 23–25 mph), which in exposed coastal urban areas can move unsecured items such as garden furniture or recycling bins if they are not secured.

People planning to travel are being advised to expect potential delays on roads and public transport because of the damp conditions, and to allow extra time for journeys. Local officials from Sefton Council are encouraging residents to check their property’s drains and gutters and to report any blocked street gullies to help prevent water pooling during steady rainfall.

Drivers should take extra care on the A565 corridor, where wet surfaces and gusty evening winds could particularly affect high-sided and large vehicles. Residents can find the latest updates on flood alerts and local river, sea and rainfall levels via the GOV.UK Check for Flooding service.
