The Met Office has issued a weather update for Northampton, Northamptonshire, warning that colder air and hill snow are expected to arrive by Friday, February 13, 2026. Forecasters say that an unsettled start to the week will shift into a cold snap, bringing stronger winds and a risk of wintry conditions to higher ground.

While the town centre might see a mix of rain and sleet, the Northamptonshire Uplands near Daventry and Cold Ashby are most likely to see snow. Residents living in these higher areas are encouraged to check local forecasts regularly and allow extra time for any travel as the weather turns.

Major roads including the M1 and A14 may face disruptions if snow and ice build up on the carriageways. National Highways monitors these routes closely, as high-altitude sections are often prone to hazardous driving conditions during winter storms.

Local authorities are preparing for the drop in temperature by readying their fleet of gritters and snow ploughs. West Northamptonshire Council has a stockpile of over 5,500 tonnes of salt to treat main roads and keep traffic moving safely across the county.
