The Breadline Project is teaming up with Sainsbury’s to host a Valentine’s Day food drive in Banbury, Oxfordshire, on February 14, 2026. The one-day event aims to collect essential items for local families during a time of year when food bank donations often decrease.
Volunteers will be stationed at the supermarket on Oxford Road during standard Sunday trading hours (typically 10:00–16:00) to accept non-perishable goods. Shoppers are encouraged to donate items such as tinned meats, pasta, and long-life milk, as well as essential toiletries including soap and nappies.
The drive is designed to help refill the pantry’s stocks, which often reach low levels in the weeks following Christmas. The Breadline Project says the initiative provides an easy way for residents to support their neighbours who may be struggling with high grocery and heating bills (see the organisation’s LiveWell entry and its About page).
Founded in 2021, the independent charitable company moved to a community pantry model in late 2024 to allow residents more choice when accessing food. The donations from this event will directly benefit people across the Banbury area (locally described as “Banburyshire”), including those living in the Neithrop and Grimsbury wards.
