Bolton College has launched a series of events for National Apprenticeship Week in Bolton, Greater Manchester, to help people find new career paths and gain practical skills. Running from February 9 to February 15, 2026, the week provides local residents with direct access to employer workshops and support with job applications.

This year’s programme follows the national theme of “Skills for Life” and features sessions at the college’s Job Shop located at the Deane Road Campus. People looking for work can meet with local businesses and browse live job vacancies in sectors like construction, digital services, and healthcare.

Bolton College is a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Greater Manchester Group. The institution formerly known as the University of Bolton changed its name to the University of Greater Manchester in December 2024. That connection allows students and adult learners to explore different levels of training, including degree-level apprenticeships that combine university study with a paid job.

To help more people get into trades, some construction apprenticeships are supported by Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) grants — commonly up to £2,500 per year to assist employers with training costs. According to the college, these programmes are designed to help fill local staff shortages while allowing workers to earn a wage while they learn their trade.
