Swadlincote Green Bin Caddy Deliveries Delayed Until Late February

Residents in Swadlincote, Derbyshire, will have to wait longer for replacement inner caddies for their green recycling bins after South Derbyshire District Council (SDDC) said deliveries have been delayed into February 2026.

The delay affects the inner black caddies used to separate paper and cardboard inside the council’s green recycling bins. The council says recycling collections will continue as normal while residents wait for the replacement caddies.

Households are being asked to put paper and card into an open plastic or cardboard box next to their green bin on collection days. SDDC has told collection crews to accept these temporary containers and to manually tip their contents; residents are asked to ensure any temporary boxes are sturdy enough to be lifted and to contain only paper and card.

The caddy delay comes as SDDC ends its weekly kerbside Podback coffee pod collections. The council has said the kerbside service will finish in February 2026 (final kerbside collection week: w/c 2 February 2026) and that residents can recycle pods at Podback drop-off points, including the Swadlincote Household Waste Recycling Centre and selected supermarket locations.

More changes to local waste services are expected later in 2026, with the council signalling plans to introduce a weekly food-waste collection. For now, SDDC says it is focused on getting the delayed inner caddies to Swadlincote households as quickly as possible.
