Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is inviting patients across Warrington and Halton who recently used emergency services to share their experiences to help improve local care. The trust is looking for feedback from people who visited the emergency department at Warrington Hospital or the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) at Halton General Hospital during November and December 2025.
Selected patients will receive a letter in the mail over the next few weeks with instructions on how to take part in the project. This effort is part of a national survey managed by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to measure the quality of urgent and emergency care across the country, with results expected to be published in autumn 2026.
The feedback comes at an important time for local health services following a busy winter period where some patients faced “trolley waits” of up to 18 hours. Hospital leaders, led by Joint CEO Nik Khashu, plan to use the survey results to identify where the system needs more support and how to better communicate with those waiting for treatment.
The information gathered will also help shape how services are run when the trust merges with Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust this spring. The merger is set to be completed on April 1, 2026, creating a single organisation to be known as the North Cheshire and Mersey NHS Foundation Trust, with former MP Andy Carter taking over as chairman.
Residents who receive an invitation can fill out a paper questionnaire or complete the survey online or by phone in several different languages. All responses are voluntary and will be kept private by the health organisations involved.
