The Environment Agency warned residents in Fleet, Hampshire, on February 11, 2026, that further rain will keep flood risks high as river levels continue to rise. This warning comes after heavy rainfall throughout early February left the ground saturated and unable to absorb more water.

Officials expect the River Hart to overflow in rural areas, which could lead to water entering homes in low-lying parts of Crookham Village. Meanwhile, properties near Fleet Pond and Elvetham Heath are facing heightened risks from surface-water flooding as local drainage systems struggle to process runoff.

The Hart District Council is opening distribution points for residents to pick up sandbags and barriers to protect their houses. A spokesperson for the Environment Agency said: “Our teams will continue to do all they can to support local people, with pumps, temporary barriers and by clearing waterways to ensure flood water can drain away.”

Hampshire County Council workers are currently checking for blocked drains and culverts that might be exacerbating the flooding. People should check the official flood warning service every six hours for the latest news on local river levels.

Drivers are being told to stay away from flooded roads and never to drive through standing water. Safety teams noted that just 30cm of fast-flowing water is enough to move a car and put people in danger.
