Families and schools in Ipswich, Suffolk, can now use new wildlife walk guides and a school education pack to explore Holywells Park. The Ipswich Borough Council Wildlife and Parks teams launched the resources in February 2026 to help residents find quieter areas of the 67-acre historic site.

The new wildlife walks focus on “Quiet Routes” that lead visitors away from busy play areas to better spots for seeing local animals like kingfishers. These routes are available through digital maps and physical signs with QR codes located at key points within the park.

Local teachers can also use a new digital education pack designed for outdoor learning and school trips. This pack is free to download and helps young people learn about the different habitats found in the park, such as the ancient woodland and orchards.

The Friends of Holywells Park volunteer group continues to help maintain the grounds and its heritage features. Councillor Lucy Trenchard from the council stated that these new tools ensure every child in the community has a chance to connect with nature for free.
