The Met Office has forecast a 95 per cent chance of heavy snow for Carlton, Nottinghamshire, starting early in the morning on Sunday, February 15, 2026. This weather is expected to create icy conditions and could block local streets for many residents.

Heavy snow is likely to fall between 5:00 AM and 6:00 AM, with temperatures feeling as cold as -3°C. The weather is predicted to turn into sleet by 7:00 AM and change to light rain by 10:00 AM.

Drivers and bus users should prepare for disruptions, especially on steep roads like Carlton Hill. In the past, Nottingham City Transport has been forced to change the routes for the Lilac 25 and Blue 39 bus services when snow makes the hills dangerous.

These weather conditions are not expected to cause problems for the usual Monday morning school run. According to Nottinghamshire County Council, schools across the county will be closed for the February half-term holiday starting Monday, February 16, 2026.

Residents are encouraged to clear their paths and check on neighbours who may need help during the cold snap. It is also recommended to allow extra time for any travel on Sunday morning while the snow and ice are on the ground.
