Small businesses and charities in Hinckley, Leicestershire, can now access free expert support to help them survive major emergencies like flooding or online security threats. The Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR) Resilience Forum and Active Together have launched the Risk Ready Businesses project to help local firms stay open during disruptions.
The initiative includes three online training sessions and a free planning tool-kit developed with experts from Cambridge Risk Solutions. These sessions aim to help owners protect their income and reduce the time their business is closed if a crisis happens. The project helps firms identify critical parts of their work, such as computer systems and staff, to create a plan that protects them before an incident occurs.
The first session takes place on February 24, 2026, and focuses on online security and keeping information safe. Further sessions follow on March 4, 2026, covering power cuts and flooding, and March 12, 2026, regarding health disruptions and pandemic planning. All sessions run from 6 PM to 7 PM to make it easier for busy owners to attend.
Helen Crouch, manager of the Hinckley BID, is encouraging town centre shops and firms to join the programme to help the high street recover quickly from any future incidents. Business owners can sign up or ask for more details by emailing the local team at [email protected].
