Ipswich Borough Council has announced that the Holi Festival of Colour will return to Alexandra Park in Ipswich, Suffolk, on April 12, 2026. The free community event will run from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, giving residents the chance to celebrate the start of spring with music, dance, and the traditional throwing of bright powdered paint.

The event is being organised by Ipswich Entertains in partnership with the Ipswich & Suffolk Indian Association. This marks the 13th year the festival has been held in the town since it began in 2013, with approximately 2,500 people attending the celebration last year.

Families can enjoy various activities including Henna hand-painting, browsing a cultural marketplace, and eating at Indian food stalls. There will also be traditional offerings of coconuts and grains for the bonfire, and the council will provide free coloured powder for those taking part in the main celebration.

Councillor Jane Riley said the festival is a wonderful opportunity for the whole community to come together. She noted that the different groups in the town help make it a great place to live and that the event celebrates everything good about the local area.
