Residents in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, are being warned of icy conditions and freezing temperatures this Valentine’s Day on February 14, 2026. According to the Met Office, the day will stay sunny but cold, with temperatures reaching a maximum of only 5°C.

A Yellow Warning for Ice is in place for the town and the wider East Midlands until 10:00 AM on Saturday. People starting their morning early would have felt a biting chill, as “feels like” temperatures dropped as low as -4°C between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM.

These conditions are colder than usual for this time of year, as the average high temperature for Wellingborough in February is normally around 7°C. While there will be clear skies during the afternoon, the cold weather is expected to affect those heading out for evening plans and celebrations.

The Umbrella Bar is hosting a “Lovers & Friends” party starting at 7:00 PM, where guests may face freezing conditions when traveling. Local residents are encouraged to take care on untreated paths and roads, particularly during the early and late hours of the day.

The weather is forecast to turn worse overnight, with the Met Office predicting a 90 per cent chance of sleet showers by 6:00 AM on Sunday, February 15, 2026. This change will bring a wintry end to the weekend following the brief period of sunshine.
