The Environment Agency issued a flood alert for the River Leam and River Itchen on February 13, 2026, as rising water levels threaten low-lying areas along the Warwickshire and West Northamptonshire border. This update brings the total number of active flood alerts monitored in the West Northamptonshire region to four, following a historically wet start to the year where rain has fallen every single day.

The alert for the River Leam and River Itchen covers roads and land between Grandborough and Leamington, as well as the stretch from Southam to Marton. Villages included in the warning zone are Eathorpe, Hunningham, and Long Itchington in Warwickshire, where saturated ground is causing rivers to react quickly to any additional rainfall.

People living near these rivers are being told to stay away from riverbanks and avoid walking or driving through floodwater. Residents in the affected areas should also consider moving their cars to higher ground and shifting valuable items away from ground-floor rooms. The Environment Agency continues to monitor the situation as water levels remain high across the region.
