Bootle, Merseyside, is set to see strong coastal winds and a band of rain and snow starting overnight on February 14, 2026. The Met Office expects that wintry conditions will move across the region, with sleet showers starting at approximately 11pm.

Light snow is predicted to follow after midnight, though any buildup is likely to be small and will not stay on the ground for long. Coastal gales are also expected to develop, bringing wind gusts of up to 36mph by Sunday morning.

The Environment Agency has kept flood alerts in place for the Mersey Estuary, which includes the shoreline from Liverpool through to Widnes. These alerts follow a very wet start to the year where some areas have seen rain for 37 days in a row, leaving the ground soaked.

Officials at Sefton Council have told residents to secure any loose items outside their homes that might blow away. High winds and sleet could also lead to delays for people using local transport or travelling late at night.
