The Met Office has issued a yellow ice warning for Beeston, Nottinghamshire, as freezing temperatures create slippery conditions for travellers on February 14, 2026. The warning is in place until 10:00 this morning, with further wintry showers and strong winds expected to follow throughout the weekend.

Weather experts predict a 90 per cent chance of sleet and heavy rain starting in the early hours of Sunday, February 15, 2026. This wet weather will be accompanied by strong gusts of wind reaching up to 30mph, making it feel much colder for those heading outdoors.

To keep major routes moving, gritting teams from Via East Midlands are prioritising A and B roads along with major bus routes. Nottinghamshire County Council has confirmed that 31 gritting lorries are working across more than 1,000 miles of the county’s busiest roads.

Commuters using the Nottingham Express Transit tram system may face disruptions if ice builds up on the overhead power lines. Local residents are encouraged to allow extra time for their journeys and watch out for slippery patches on pavements and untreated side streets.
