Blackpool Council has announced a year-long programme of community events to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Stanley Park in Blackpool, Lancashire, throughout 2026. The celebrations will include heritage walks, bandstand performances, and a major two-day festival to mark the century of the local landmark.

The anniversary is supported by a £500,000 investment plan from Blackpool Council, which includes £50,000 raised by the Friends of Stanley Park. This money will be used for essential maintenance, including repairs to the Cocker Clock Tower and the water fountain inside the Italian Gardens.

The 390-acre park was designed by landscape architect Thomas Mawson and has been named the best park in the country twice by the charity Fields in Trust. Records from Showtown Blackpool show that the park originally opened on October 2, 1926, when it was launched by the 17th Earl of Derby.

A special two-day event is planned for October 2, 2026, and October 3, 2026, to celebrate the official opening date. These activities are designed to be free or low-cost for local families to enjoy the green space during the landmark year.
