Four men were sentenced to a combined 117 years in prison on February 12, 2026, for the attempted murder of a man in Wolverhampton, West Midlands. The lengthy sentences remove the violent offenders from the community after they chased a 45-year-old man through the streets and shot him in the back.

The incident happened around 11:00 PM on September 18, 2024, in the Horseley Fields area. Earlier that evening, the group had slashed the tyres of the victim’s grey Mercedes while it was parked outside a pub on Harp Street.

According to West Midlands Police, officers used phone records and vehicle tracking to link the men to the planned attack. The group used multiple cars, including a black Mercedes, to carry out the shooting after meeting at an industrial estate in Bilston.

Richard Beckles, Cleon Johnson, and Khyle Gayle were each sentenced to 30 years in prison for their roles in the attack. Constantine Campbell was sentenced to 27 years by the judge at Wolverhampton Crown Court.

The victim survived the shooting on Minerva Street and was eventually released from the hospital. A fifth man who was also charged in the case was found not guilty during the trial.
