Residents in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, are being told to expect wind gusts of up to 35mph and wintry showers on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. The change in weather will bring much colder temperatures and the risk of icy roads, which may affect travel plans and outdoor activities across the city.

According to the Met Office, there is a 40 per cent chance of rain and mist starting from 4:00 PM. This wet weather is expected to last through the evening, just as Wolverhampton Wanderers prepare to play Arsenal at Molineux Stadium at 8:00 PM.

As the night goes on, temperatures will drop significantly and feel as cold as -5C. These freezing conditions are expected to lead to icy patches forming on many streets and pavements by Thursday morning, making conditions slippery for the morning commute.

The City of Wolverhampton Council has confirmed it will grit roughly 51 per cent of all city roads to help keep traffic moving. Crews will focus on the busiest routes, bus paths, and steep hills to ensure major travel links remain as safe as possible for drivers.
