The Hertfordshire Constabulary launched a year-long community engagement drive in Watford, Hertfordshire, on February 17, 2026. This new initiative is designed to increase the visibility of local officers and celebrate the unity and spirit of the community.

The project, known as Herts Together, will involve more opportunities for residents to meet with police and raise their concerns. On February 17, 2026, local officers held a meeting with the public at Pondside on The Parade to start the local activities.

Chief Constable Andy Prophet has promised that every neighbourhood will have a specific, named police officer by the end of February 2026. Residents will be able to find the contact details for their local officer on the force website to help build personal connections.

The launch follows a major court case where a gang member was sentenced to 28 years in prison on February 13, 2026, for a shooting on the A41 in 2024. Local commander Chief Inspector Andy Wiseman is working with groups like One Vision and Watford Borough Council to move the focus toward community safety and inclusion.

Throughout the year, the campaign will focus on seven areas of local life including sport, music, food, and family education. These events are intended to help officers work more closely with neighbourhood groups and foster a shared sense of safety across the town.
