Swadlincote residents in Derbyshire are being told to prepare for travel delays on Thursday, February 19, 2026, as snow and sleet are forecast to arrive during the morning commute.

The Met Office expects a 95 per cent chance of light snow starting around 7:00 AM. Temperatures will feel like -3°C, creating a high risk of ice on roads and pavements that have not been treated.

Drivers may face poor visibility between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM, which could make journeys more difficult. Particular care is needed at the Woodville Tollgate, known as Clock Island, which is a major junction for traffic travelling between Swadlincote, Ashby, and Burton.

Major routes such as the A511 and A444 are prioritised for gritting by Derbyshire County Council, but smaller residential streets might not be cleared. People are advised to allow extra time for their morning travel.
