On February 12, 2026, a 52-year-old man named Matthew Ramsey was sentenced to five years and 219 days in prison for selling crack cocaine and heroin in Reading, Berkshire, following an investigation by Thames Valley Police.

Officers arrested Ramsey on September 23, 2025, after they saw a drug deal happening in an alleyway near Oxford Road. During the search, police found 24 wraps of illegal drugs with a total street value of about £290.

Investigators also took £870 in cash and a mobile phone that contained messages related to drug dealing. Ramsey is a repeat offender who was previously sent to prison for similar drug crimes in the local area in 2021.

Police officials stated that this result should reassure the community that they are working to dismantle drug networks in the local neighbourhood. The case was led by PC Steele from the Reading police station as part of ongoing efforts to keep the town safe.
