On February 11, 2026, Tendring District Council approved a balanced budget to safeguard safety services and community events in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex. The plan secures funding for beach patrols and the annual airshow while increasing the district portion of council tax by 2.99 per cent.

The council has set aside £196,000 over the next two years to keep the Beach Patrol service running at its current level. Funding for the Clacton Airshow has also been confirmed with a £40,000 commitment for both the 2026 and 2027 events to ensure the attraction remains a part of the local summer calendar.

A further £1 million has been allocated in the budget to support residents facing homelessness and to pay for temporary accommodation. While the general council tax increase is lower, people living in council homes will see a 4.8 per cent rent increase, which was supported by the TDC Tenants-Panel to fund future housing investments.

Council Leader Mark Stephenson stated the budget is intended to provide a strong foundation for the area. This financial stability comes as the district prepares for a transition into a new Unitary Council structure for Essex, which is expected to change how local government is organised across the county.
