Gloucestershire College is hosting two career events in Cheltenham and Gloucester on February 25, 2026, to help people find work and training in the building industry. These sessions are designed for school leavers, jobseekers, and anyone looking to change their career path to enter the construction trade.
The Building Futures Fair will take place from 10:00 am to 11:45 am at Trinity Church in Cheltenham. Organised by the college’s JobSmart team in partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), this morning session offers professional careers advice on training routes and information on how to connect with local employers.
Later that same day, the college will host an Apprenticeship Open Evening at its Gloucester campus from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. This evening session gives visitors the chance to meet local businesses in person and apply for apprenticeship roles during the event.
These events come at a time when the building industry is looking for a large number of new workers. According to the CITB, the industry will need about 250,000 more staff by 2026 to keep up with national demand for new housing and infrastructure.
People attending can learn about specific training, such as the Level 1 Health and Safety in a Construction Environment course required to obtain a CSCS card for working on building sites. Staff from the college will be available at both sessions to offer career advice and help residents plan their next steps in the industry.
