Residents in Camberley, Surrey, will see their council tax bills rise this year after local leaders approved the final budget before a major change to how the area is run. On February 18, 2026, Surrey Heath Borough Council agreed to increase its portion of the bill by 2.99 per cent to support community services.
For an average Band D property, the total yearly bill will go up by 4.7 per cent to £2,553.93. The borough council keeps only 10 per cent of the total tax collected, while 74 per cent goes to Surrey County Council. The remaining money is split between the police and parish councils.
To balance the budget, the council found nearly £3 million in savings, which covers about 19 per cent of the cost of running services. These financial moves mean the council now expects its emergency savings to last into the 2027/28 year, which is better than earlier forecasts.
The budget includes money for new padel courts, a skate park, and upgrades to playgrounds and Camberley town centre. This is the last budget set by this council before it is replaced by a new West Surrey Council in April 2027.
