Basildon Borough Council in Essex released a new waste and recycling leaflet on February 19, 2026, to help households follow updated collection rules. The guide provides residents with clear instructions on where to put their rubbish and how to use the current bin system correctly.

General waste in black bins is now collected every week across the borough. Residents can download the Our Streets Basildon mobile app to receive notifications about their specific collection days and any updates from the council.

According to Basildon Borough Council, the recycling system uses disposable blue and white bags. Each household receives two rolls of each bag type twice a year to help manage their paper, plastic, and metal recycling.

Garden waste services resumed on January 19, 2026, following a short break over the winter months. For larger household objects, people can book a bulky waste collection through the council or visit the mobile service known as The Crunch.
