Local charities and community groups across West Northamptonshire can now apply for a share of £213,000 to fund mental health and wellbeing projects. West Northamptonshire Council is offering the money for projects running between May 2026 and March 2028.
This funding aims to help residents get support in their own neighbourhoods and make it easier to find help locally. By supporting these groups, the council hopes to provide preventative care that reduces the growing demand on overstretched statutory NHS services.
To make sure both large charities and smaller local groups have a fair chance, the money is split into two equal pots of £106,500. Groups with an income under £100,000 will follow a different application process than those with a higher turnover.
According to the West Northamptonshire Council Public Health team, projects must focus on specific areas such as building emotional resilience, combatting loneliness, or preventing suicide. This new grant program follows a successful pilot program held in 2024.
Organisations have until March 31, 2026, to submit an expression of interest for the funding. The council expects to announce which projects have been chosen to receive the grants in April 2026.
