A woman in her 60s was taken to hospital after being struck by a car outside a supermarket in Basildon, Essex, on February 21, 2026. The incident happened at approximately 2:40 pm on Miles Gray Road during a busy Saturday afternoon for local shoppers.

The woman was hit by a black Jaguar XF while walking outside the Lidl store. She was transported to a local hospital for the treatment of cuts and bruises, which are not believed to be life-threatening.

Officers from Essex Police are now asking for help from the public to understand how the crash happened. The police issued an appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage on February 24, 2026, to assist with their ongoing investigation.

This is the second time this month that a pedestrian has been involved in a collision in the town. A separate incident involving a teenager took place on February 10, 2026, on Long Gages.
