Telford & Wrekin Council has started a six-week public check of all local voting locations in Telford, Shropshire, to ensure they are easy for everyone to reach. The review, which began on February 23, 2026, allows people to suggest changes to where they cast their ballots ahead of future elections.

The council is looking at 102 different voting areas across the borough, including 56 in the Telford area and 46 in The Wrekin. Officials want to make sure every site follows the rules in the Equality Act 2010 so that people with mobility needs can vote without any trouble.

There is a new focus on moving away from using schools or temporary portable buildings as polling stations. Using other buildings instead would stop schools from having to close for the day and provide more permanent, reliable places for the community to vote.

According to Councillor Giles Luter, the chair of the Boundary Review Committee, the goal is to have the best sites ready for the local elections in May 2027. Residents and local groups have until April 6, 2026, to share their thoughts on the current locations.
