Swindon Borough Council opened a new community hub at Park Library and the Reuben George Centre in Park South on 25 February 2026. This facility is the first of four trial sites designed to help residents in Swindon, Wiltshire, access support services closer to where they live instead of travelling to central offices.
Local people can visit the hub in Cavendish Square to get advice on housing, finding a job, and health and wellbeing. The centre also offers financial guidance and help with debt through a partnership with staff from Citizens Advice Swindon.
Councillor Jim Grant, the cabinet member for communities, said the council wants to hear from residents to help shape how these hubs work. The project is part of a plan to provide help earlier, which the council hopes will reduce the need for emergency services and help manage a predicted budget gap of £27.8 million for the 2026/27 financial year.
Around half of the residents in the borough live within a 20-minute walk of the four planned hub locations. These sites were chosen because they are easy to reach by walking or by using the local bus network.
Three more hubs are expected to open across the town later in 2026. A new site at The Meadows in Penhill will open in March, followed by the Central Library in April and the West Swindon Library later in the year.
