The York Literature Festival officially begins on 28 February 2026, bringing a month-long series of cultural events to the city of York, North Yorkshire. The festival will feature more than 45 different sessions, including author talks, workshops, and live performances, running until 30 March 2026.

This year’s line-up includes a variety of speakers, from traditional novelists to modern social media stars. Notable guests include Mark Webber, the guitarist from the band Pulp, who will discuss his music industry memoir. He will be joined by TikTok poet Isabella Dorta and bestselling fantasy author Susanna Clarke.

Events will take place at several locations across the city, such as Theatre@41, St Peter’s School, and York St John University. One featured session involves author Tim Minshall, who will speak about the environmental impact of everyday items like smartphones and jeans.

The festival is run by a registered charity and is led by board chair Dr. Rob O’Connor and programming director Chloe Hanks. The annual event aims to support the local literary scene and provide accessible activities for residents and visitors throughout the spring.
