The Hertfordshire Constabulary is asking for help from the public after a house was broken into on Lodgefield in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, earlier this month. The burglary happened just after midnight on 12 February 2026 and resulted in damage to the home.

According to the Welwyn Hatfield North Neighbourhood Policing Team, the suspects got into the property by smashing a back patio door. Once they were inside, they carried out a messy search of the house before leaving the scene.

The official appeal was shared by PCSO Supervisor Anne Devine on 26 February 2026. This notice was part of several recent crime alerts in the town, which included two other house break-ins on Prospect Road and a theft from a vehicle in Walnut Grove.

Local officers are now asking neighbours to check their doorbell cameras or private CCTV for any suspicious activity recorded on the night of the incident. Residents are also being reminded to keep their back gates locked and use timer switches for their lights to help keep their homes secure.

Anyone who saw anything unusual or has footage that could help can contact the police by calling 101 and quoting crime reference 41/18329/26. Information can also be provided anonymously through the charity Crimestoppers.
