Merseyside Police have set up a move-on zone in Kirkby, Merseyside, to give officers more power to break up groups causing trouble between Friday 27 February and Sunday 1 March 2026. This is the second time recently that these measures have been used in the town following reports of damage and nuisance behaviour.

The decision was made after reports of youths kicking through windows and throwing chairs inside local restaurants. Other incidents included stones being thrown at houses, damage to a medical centre, and people riding quad bikes dangerously around the neighbourhood.

Under these rules, officers can tell people to leave the area if they are acting in a way that causes distress or alarm to others. Police also have the power to take away any items being used to cause a nuisance in the community.

This latest action comes after delivery drivers were also targeted in the town centre over the last fortnight. Community Policing Inspector Andrew Robinson said the aim is to reassure residents and keep local businesses safe from further harm.

The order began on Friday evening and will stay in place until 5:59 PM on Sunday. Residents who have concerns about trouble in their area are encouraged to report incidents by calling the 101 non-emergency number.
