Thorpe St Andrew in Norfolk saw a significant drop in reported crime during January 2026, reaching its lowest level in over a year. According to the latest figures from Norfolk Constabulary, 57 incidents were recorded in the town last month.

This total represents a 28 per cent decrease from the 79 crimes reported in December 2025. It is also less than half of the 123 reports seen during the peak of July 2025.

While the overall numbers fell, violent and sexual offences remained the largest category with 32 reports. This period included a murder investigation in Catherine Gardens following the death of Tania Williams, which resulted in a 61-year-old man being charged on 20 January 2026.

Local activity may have been influenced by major roadworks managed by the Thorpe St Andrew Town Council, which concluded on 16 January 2026. Meanwhile, Sarah Taylor, the Norfolk Police and Crime Commissioner, has begun asking residents for their views on the policing budget and local tax rates for the coming year.
