Two 16-year-old boys have been arrested by Wiltshire Police following a robbery at knifepoint at Croft Playing Fields in Swindon, Wiltshire. On 26 February 2026, a 16-year-old boy was approached while playing football by two males who demanded his e-bike at approximately 4.25pm.

During the confrontation, one of the males pulled a knife from his waistband and pointed it at the victim before a struggle began. The victim sustained an injury to his hand during the fight, and the suspects fled the area before being caught by local officers.

One teenager was arrested on suspicion of robbery, possession of a class B drug, and dangerous driving, and has since been released on conditional bail. The second boy remains in custody for questioning on suspicion of robbery and possession of an offensive weapon.

Inspector Jamie Brown described the incident as a frightening ordeal for the young victim and credited the swift response of officers for the arrests. This robbery took place during a week of high police activity in the town, which included the sentencing of a local drug dealer on the same day.

Figures from last year showed an increase in violent offences of up to 15 per cent compared to 2024, prompting new safety strategies from Philip Wilkinson. Local officers are continuing proactive patrols in public parks to address concerns from parents and residents about knife crime in the community.
