West Yorkshire Police issued an urgent appeal on 27 February 2026 to find 42-year-old Richard Hannan, who is wanted on recall to prison and for new burglary offences in the Huddersfield area of West Yorkshire. Officers from the local neighbourhood teams are asking the public for any information that might help locate him to reduce potential risks to the community.

Hannan is described as a white man who is 5ft 10ins tall, with a medium build and receding hair. The Kirklees District Catch and Control Team is currently focusing its search efforts on the Batley, Dewsbury, and Leeds areas to find him.

According to police records, Hannan was previously sentenced to 32 months in prison in May 2025 for robbing a 13-year-old schoolgirl of her phone. He was also charged in November 2024 for a series of other crimes, including a break-in at a church in Dewsbury.

Huddersfield residents are being encouraged to check their local CCTV, doorbell cameras, and dashcam footage for any recent sightings of the man. Anyone with information should contact the police by calling 101 or by reporting what they know anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers.
