New figures show that violence and sexual offences were the most reported crimes in Folkestone Central, Kent, during January 2026. According to data released by Kent Police on 28 February 2026, officers received 59 reports for this category in the first month of the year.

The monthly snapshot also highlighted other frequent issues in the town centre. There were 28 reports of antisocial behaviour, 25 reports of shoplifting, and 23 cases of criminal damage recorded during the same period.

These latest figures follow a trend seen throughout the previous year. Data from CrimeRate shows that violence and sexual offences were the most common crimes in Folkestone in 2025, with a total of 2,354 offences recorded across the calendar year.

During January, the local policing team focused on community outreach by holding engagement events at St Eanswythe’s C of E Primary School and EKC Folkestone College. These sessions allow residents to speak directly with officers about safety concerns and local policing.

To help manage crime across the county, Kent Police planned for growth between 2025 and 2026. According to government records, this included a projection to add 65 extra full-time police officers to the force to support neighbourhood teams.
