Walsall Council approved its budget for the 2026/27 financial year on 26 February 2026, bringing a mix of higher bills and new facility upgrades to Bloxwich, West Midlands. The plan includes a council tax increase of 4.99 per cent and a major project to improve a local park as part of a multi-million-pound regeneration deal.
People living in a typical Band D home will pay an extra £2.09 per week starting in the new financial year. This total increase is intended to help Walsall Council reach a savings goal of £32.83 million while protecting services for vulnerable residents.
The council has confirmed that the construction company Interclass will begin the transformation of the King George V Playing Field on 23 March 2026. This project, part of the £25 million government-funded Bloxwich Town Deal, will deliver a new pavilion and a café for the local community.
While the park is being improved, the Bloxwich Active Living Centre is one of four leisure sites currently under a service review. This review is part of an effort to save approximately £267,500 across the borough’s health and fitness facilities.
Additionally, The New Art Gallery Walsall will have its weekly opening hours cut by three hours to save money. The council is focusing its remaining budget on providing essential care for children and adults who need extra support.
