Violence Reports Rise in Wellingborough South During January 2026

New figures from Northamptonshire Police show that violence and sexual offences were the most common crimes reported in Wellingborough South, Northamptonshire, during January 2026. There were 87 incidents recorded in this category, which was significantly higher than any other type of reported crime during the month.

According to the data published on 1 March 2026, the next most frequent issues were anti-social behaviour with 45 reports, shoplifting with 39, and public order offences with 21. Total crime in the area has now increased for four months in a row, rising from 226 reports in October 2025 to 277 in January 2026.

The Wellingborough South Neighbourhood Policing Team is expected to adjust patrols and focus on these crime hotspots to help keep the community safe. Inspector Miriam Kiernan, who leads policing for the area, oversees the work to find solutions to these long-standing local problems.

The Northamptonshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Danielle Stone has a Police, Fire and Crime Plan for 2025–2030 focused on early intervention for violence and gang-related issues. Residents are now being asked to help by sharing doorbell or dashcam footage with officers to assist with ongoing investigations across the town.
