A new independent music event has been given the go-ahead to take place at Deene Park in Northamptonshire this summer. The North Northamptonshire Council officially approved the license for the Ground Rules Festival, which is set to run from 19 June to 22 June 2026.

The festival will focus on sound system culture and feature live music until 4:00 AM on Friday and Saturday nights. On Sunday evening, the event is required to stop all music by midnight.

Organiser Guy Freeman-Pow has stated that this new gathering will be significantly smaller than previous events held at the park. It is expected to be about one-third of the size of past festivals and will operate with only half the number of stages.

Some local residents and the Deene and Deenethorpe Parish Council had raised concerns about potential noise pollution from the late-night music. Despite these objections, the council granted the license following a meeting on 26 February 2026 where the organiser promised a professional management style.

The event is expected to create local jobs and support the hospitality sector by bringing more visitors to the region. To encourage community support, the festival is also offering discounted tickets to residents living in the immediate area.
