Banbury, Oxfordshire, will host its annual Armed Forces Day celebrations on Saturday 27 June 2026, with a large-scale event planned for Spiceball Park. Organised by Banbury Town Council, the day is scheduled to run from 11:00 to 16:00 and will serve as a public thank you to serving troops, veterans and cadets.
The day begins with a traditional parade that will set off from Banbury Town Hall on Bridge Street and finish at Spiceball Park. Banbury Town Council advises that Bridge Street and other town-centre roads will be closed for roughly an hour (approximately 10:30–11:30) to allow the march to proceed — exact road-closure details and timings will be published by the council ahead of the event.
By moving the main festivities to the town’s largest green space, organisers hope to accommodate larger attractions such as military vehicles and a possible static helicopter display. Local cadet groups (including Sea Cadets and Air Training Corps units) are expected to perform drills in the arena while the national Armed Forces Day celebrations take place in nearby Aldershot (Rushmoor), increasing regional visibility for this year’s tributes.
To support local shops and restaurants, Banbury BID is coordinating promotional activity to encourage visitors to head back into the town centre after the park events. Attendees travelling by car are advised that Riverside Car Park and Compton Road Car Park are the primary town-centre car parks; Waterworks Car Park on Grimsbury Green is listed as a free alternative a short walk from Spiceball Park.
